Day 26: Impatient

Jeremiah 26:1-27:22

2 Thessalonians 3:1-18

Psalm 85:1-13

Proverbs 25:16

I'm getting really tired about hearing about how Israel is not obeying God. COME ON GUYS.

It doesn't make for very interesting reading. Haha.

But I can't imagine the grief it give Jeremiah and the rest of the prophets to say it all over and over again.

I can't imagine the grief it gives God.

Today I feel impatience, in a lot of ways, it's probably just a mood. But I'd imagine Jeremiah and the rest of the prophets were feeling impatient often. It takes a lot of faith the keep coming back to God and keep obeying when whatever He says is repetitive and no one around you is listening.

But how patient our God is.

Day after day to be ready with the same true words we need to hear, the same loving character. He's holy! He's God! And how we forget it.

I love Psalm 84, from yesterday. "How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young--a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, they are ever praising you...Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere."

I can't wait to be there. There where I am face-to-face with Jesus and I won't need reminding of the Word of God because He's there in front of me but also because I won't be a silly sinner anymore...I will be excited about and convinced of truth and never impatient with it.
