Day 51: Very Much God

Ezekiel 20:1-49

Hebrews 9:11-28

Psalm 107:1-43

Proverbs 27:11

Lately, a lot of the passages I've been reading have been about sin and judgment. It's been harsh, because it's the prophets trying to communicate with stubborn people. And it's not been the most invigorating thing to read, to be honest. It's a little exhausting and a little boring.

But in today's reading, though a lot of it was similarly boring to me, there were a lot more blatant moments of God's grace.

There have been undertones of God's grace throughout. God is gracious and we can see that in everything He says and does. His patience and grace.

Today I read about how we know He is God because He is gracious.

It's interesting because in a big way I think we know He is God because of how not-God we are. We are sinful and broken and His constant calling, "Hello, where are you? Why aren't you worshiping me?" highlights how God He is. But we can also know He is God when He sees how sinful and broken we are and says "I love you still"..."I forgive you"..."I still want you"..."No matter what you've done, you can come to Me."

This is as real as it gets.

Gratitude: for red velvet cake. For good books. For activity. For the unexplainable, ever-permeating, life-altering love of God.
