Day 53: Flip it Around

Ezekiel 23:1-49

Hebrews 10:19-39

Psalm 109:1-31

Proverbs 27:13

I came fully prepared to have another not so interesting read and therefore not so interesting post and to blame it all on my sore feet and deliriousness after a long seven-hour shift today.

But

Hebrews

"let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings"

10:22

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful."

10:23

I could have highlighted the whole passage. But I think a big section of this that was truly impactful for me was 10:28-31.

In 53 days I've already read so much about God's judgment and there's so much more to come and I've been trying to word it, for this blog and for myself, about why this is just and why this does not take away from how good God is...and nothing quite said it as succinctly as this little passage of 4 verses did.

It is a devastating thing to see someone reject Christ and know the judgment that awaits them. The very idea of this turns people away from the faith all the time: How could God be so harsh sometimes? It's upsetting and sometimes confuses me and makes me angry at God.

But flip it around. Someone rejecting Jesus? Jesus. My beloved, amazing Jesus, who gave everything for us.

It's not Jesus' fault, if we reject Him, it is indeed our fault.

God has already been as harsh as He needed to be. He had it all out on the cross. Jesus took it all for us. And if we reject Him but then say "how can you be so harsh?" we must remember, He didn't need to be.

Gratitude: for a really big, great, and wonderful hope all made possible by my Teaching Serving and Sacrificing, Lord Jesus Christ.
