Day 90: "Life is Hard on the Prairie"
Habakkuk 1:1-3:19
Revelation 9:1-21
Psalm 137:1-9
Proverbs 30:10
Weird little chunk of reading today....
I did highlight one part though "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the wines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." Habakkuk 3:17-18
As my family and I rewatch the Little House on the Prairie series, we've developed a saying that we say probably every single episode... "life is hard on the prairie." They get sick, they have fires, they have wild animals, and they lose their crops. Pa is a farmer and nearly every season something catastrophic happens to his crop and it means he has to go find another random job somewhere. And thus far it seems like those jobs always seem to dangerously involve dynamite? Don't know what that's about...but the point is he has to feed his family and he can't do it the "easy" way. Life is hard on the prairie.
What Habakkuk has written here is not just a pretty poem, it's a hardcore statement. Even though I do. not. have. food. I will praise God.
