Making Sense of Things

For some reason I have always connected with the story of Peter walking on water. Water is my go-to analogy in most things, song writing in particular. I'm working on locating a video of one of my original songs that particularly pulls from this story as an analogy.

I don't know why I connect with the analogy...I don't have an amazing testimonial about when this story clicked with me...I think it just always has.

Jesus calls us to miraculous and crazy things. He calls us to be the improbable and to do the impossible. He takes us places that do not make sense. And I like things to make sense. I like to sit down and sort things out. I am the one to plan the Disney trip, "you all will drive together, I'll buy the sandwiches, when he gets to Disneyland we'll ride Splash Mountain....let's figure out a way to make sure everyone does what they want to do." When I'm feeling down I like to get my journal out and just write and write until I land on a phrase or soemthing to keep in my pocket so I can explain how I feel and why I feel that way. I like things to make sense. But Jesus calls us to places that don't make sense, He calls us to do the impossible, He calls us to walk on water.

And while this goes against literally everything that makes sense in my mind...I want to obey. And I want to keep my eyes fixed on Him...because He knows what He is doing. For all the comfort I get in "making sense" of things...I am never really going to be able to do, but Jesus can.
