Fishing for Men

2 Samuel 22:1-23:23

Acts 2:1-47

Psalm 122:1-9

Proverbs 16:19-20

Wow! How long has it been without Jesus? The disciples sit...pray...wait and then all of a sudden the Holy Spirit rushes in and does THE most unexpected to accomplish exactly what Jesus told the disciples to expect: "I will make you fishers of men."

The Holy Spirit enables them to speak in many different languages and they pull their nets in and they have three THOUSAND believers now.

Three thousand.

It's overflowing, it's impossible, it's overwhelming.

I'm reminded of another practice Jesus showed them: feeding the five thousand. It says here that this new, brand-new, first baby church lived together and ate together. The disciples hadn't a worry, they'd seen what Jesus can do. And they see now that they can too, in Him.

Wow, how long has it been without Jesus? And now it's happening! Everything He said would happen and look what we are able to do even without Jesus physically and visibly showing us how! Look at the power and authority He has given us!

Jesus calls the disciples to take everything they know how to do and He will use it to do crazy impossible things. Nothing is impossible. Nothing.

This is fishing for men, this is surrendering to the Holy Spirit, this is ordinary people doing impossible things in Jesus Christ.
