Day One: Again

Hello readers, it's been a minute.

I've returned because even though I didn't think I was ever going to commit to this blog again, I need to. Right now we are in our 10th? week of quarantine and let me tell you it is really getting difficult.

I've been thinking a lot about what I know is the most important command Jesus has given us: love your neighbor as yourself and love your God with all your heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:36-40). In quarantine we are in such a unique position to love our neighbor. We are positioned near our actual neighbors, for one, and we also don't have much else to do: love our neighbor.

I thought quarantine would be a great time to write songs but I keep coming up against writer's block. First, I was blaming the fact that I can never get a moment alone in the house. I have always had a hard time writing if I knew someone could overhear the creative process. But then, as I was finding moments alone I found my writer's block had more to do with feeling hindered spiritually. It was while I was trying to write a song that I realized I need Scripture. What better time to start blogging in my Bible Diary again?

So I ran downstairs, and here I am. Just opening up the pages of the Bible affected me and made me more at peace, I am so ready for this. I so need this. I've now only spent 15 minutes reading the Word and the anxiety, irritability, and depression that was weighing on me after so many days quarantined has melted away.

If you want to join in, let's do this! I'm reading the reading plan "the One Year Bible" by Tyndale. I'm reading on my Kindle, you can also buy the book on Amazon. If you want to join in I will be posting the passages with each blog post so you can flip to it in your Bible.

Quarantine is a great time to do something you've always meant to do, reading the Bible every day will only lead to good things. It will cause your heart to shift and maybe it will challenge you, but you don't have anything really to lose.

Today's reading:

1 Samuel 24:1-25:44

John 10:22-42

Psalm 116

Proverbs 15:20-21

Psalm 116:1-2

"I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live."
