Radiant Ramblings

Exodus 34:1-35:9

Matthew 27:15-31

Psalm 33:12-22

Proverbs 9:1-6

We had a lovely evening eating tacos and looking out over rainy LA at Griffith Observatory. I did all the reading today at my lunch break without knowing that it would be saving me much needed time this evening, as it is very late. I read it all during my lunch break because I felt like I needed to be fed the truth. I was feeling out of it and down and I was hungry for it. Reading it all in one sitting early on today was purely by desire and it was not a practical decision though it turned out to be...our trip to Griffith was spontaneous.

Anyway, now that it is late I have to attempt to summarize the thoughts I had about the reading hours and hours ago. And the main thought that sticks out was how Moses's face was radiant after speaking with God.

When reading the Bible on my lunch break I sometimes have the thought in the back of my head that some of my coworkers might be confused to know I am reading my Bible. There is something different about it, I'm aware of that. Reading my Bible on a daily basis wasn't always my practice, so before this year I would have thought it odd too. But now I do read my Bible every day and sometimes I feel like I need it at work (actually I always feel like I need it at work but I don't always remember to bring my Kindle).

Anyway, as I was thinking about how taken aback someone might be to hear I am reading my Bible on my lunch break I started to imagine what the reaction would be if I came back from reading the Bible with a visibly radiant face. Like this actually happened to Moses! What did that look like? What did it feel like? What did it feel like to see everyone else's reaction? It's such a peculiar situation.

I don't know if reading the Bible during my lunch break creates a visible change like that...but God can. While I sit around amused at how unusual it is to read my Bible on lunch break, let me not forget how relevant, powerful, and real God is and how actually He is what this is all about.

Have no idea if that made sense, I'm so tired, end rambling.

Tomorrow:
