"They pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed Jesus."

The disciples left everything.

I don't know how many times I've actually been asked to do this. I know there have been times in my life when I was asked to let go of something big, something that hurt to lose. Something that made me feel like I wasn't making sense...why would I give this up? But I don't know how many times I've been asked to give up everything, and by everything, I mean everything.

They got up and followed him. Never mind whatever they were planning on doing later, never mind whoever was waiting on them. Never mind they've been working ALL NIGHT and they probably wanted to sleep, never mind because they are walking away from their bed. Never mind that they worked hard all night to try and catch a single fish and they didn't until they caught the LARGEST amount of fish they could possibly imagine. The biggest catch a single boat could not contain it. Never mind all of that.

They've got their eyes, their wills, their hearts, their everything now set on Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, only Jesus.

At this point in my life I am, in a sense, smitten with the idea of picking up and entering into the unknown. I'd love to move away from Southern California, I'm not working anywhere close to my dream job, I'd like to get out there and see God move, be more independent, experience some change. But that's not what this is really about. This isn't about the disciples catching wanderlust all of a sudden. This is about the disciples following Jesus. And for me, for right now, I think following Jesus means staying where I am in this moment in time. There is something here. And maybe one day, and maybe one day soon, following Jesus will align with my wanderlust, but may I never wander from Him. May my heart always leave everything behind for Him. May I forever be set on Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, only Jesus.
