What is my cross?

Joshua 3:1-4:24

Luke 14:7-35

Psalm 80:1-19

Proverbs 12:27-28

"Whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:27

What is my cross?

What is my cross?

What is the path I must walk as I carry my cross?

What is my cross?

This is an invitation to strip myself of everything. Everyone, every desire, every hope, every dream, every possession, and fix my whole self on One Jesus Christ. I forsake my expectation of being repaid, being known by others, being respected.

My cross...is a life of not-my-self, not-my-wants, not-my-head, but Christ Alone. Christ take me over.

My cross...is a life entering into whatever depth that I wouldn't go, because Jesus says "go."

My life as a disciple is a life of saying...

"Jesus is more important than my new investment."

"Jesus is more important than my new dream."

"Jesus is more important than my relationships."

"Jesus is more important than anything."

As a disciple I must courageously keep and keep following Jesus even if His steps take me further and further away from what I previously thought was important.

I forsake everything to have the One that matters.

I enter into this lonely walk...carrying a cross...leaving behind everything...even my own father, mother, husband, children, brother, sister, my own self...I leave it all behind for Jesus.

This is the call. This is the call for you, for me...however well we respond...this is the call.

And Lord God I hope I learn to desire You enough to be Your disciple.

Because all that I am called to forsake is ultimately rubbish, ultimately not what gives me joy: You are. Help me see that.
